Downtown Los Angeles

Well, it took me a little while to get here but I finally found the grungy side of Los Angeles. I went to take some photos down by the L.A. River for possible cover art for my friend Scott's upcoming cd. There is a whole other world of photos possibilities down here. I spent the day driving around and taking photos of burned out cars, homeless camps, and general seediness. The melancholic beauty of this photo really gets me.

  1. hey leon,

just checked out your website. really lovely.
all your style with the different themes and subjects.
    congratulations.
and thanks for the burned out car shot.
what is it about that stuff? something romantic? tragic? both?
I love that photo. I guess when I see an old wiped out car like
that I remember there was a day someone drove it off the lot
brand new and were probably excited as hell. Then time does
it's thing, and it gets some sort of story....and so on and so forth.
and then it has another life as art. Who would have thought.
You know? I'm sure the car never anticipated such a rebirth.
